Book Sale Bonanza!

These are the books I bought at the Friends of the Library book sale. I definitely restrained myself... there were so many I could have bought. However, tomorrow they're charging $5 for all the books you can stuff in a bag! So, I'll head back and stock up on the ones I left behind... if they are still there. If not, no problem! I have plenty of books to read!

I noticed a few things...

~ There were enough hardback copies of The DaVinci Code that the cashiers could have given one to each customer and still had PLENTY leftover. I couldn't believe how many copies I saw.

~ There were a few people with lists. I assume they were looking for those books. I've never gone to a book sale specifically looking for a title. It would be like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack. I look at book sales as treasure hunts. I browse until I find my treasures :o)

~ I was pleasantly surprised at how many titles I saw that I had read. "Read that, read that, read that" was a constant refrain that ran through my brain.

~ I get that people take books and decide later if they're keeping it. But, really, must you sit down in the middle of an aisle, spread all the books out, block everyone while you decide?!? Yes, I saw that TWICE!! I'm sure they were related. Is it bad that I wanted to kick them? I didn't but I wanted to :o)

I'd love to hear your thoughts of the books I bought...

~ Handbags & Gladrags by Maggie Anderson
~ Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
~ Misfortune by Wesley Stace
~ Fallen Skies by Phillipa Gregory
~ The World From Rough Stones by Malcolm MacDonald
~ The Strawberry Season by Jessica Stirling
~ A Complicated Woman by Sheelagh Kelly

These I've read but bought copies to have and lend...

~ The Raphael Affair by Iain Pears
~ The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett
~ Another Man's Moccasins by Craig Johnson
~ The Cold Dish by Craig Johnson
~ Kindness Goes Unpunished by Craig Johnson
~ The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

Memoirs of a Geisha is excellent. I would have also snatched up The Scarlet Letter and The Maltese Falcon. They are two of my favorites.

I've never gone to a Friends of the Library sale with a list. The last time I went they seemed to have an over abundance of Harry Potter and Twilight books.

Lol, you got some really great books! I've never went to a book sale before but I really want to! I hope you enjoy them all.

I've only ever read Memoirs of a Geisha, but it remains one of my top ten. Enjoy!

I keep meaning to pick up Memoirs of a Geisha but haven't yet!

When I lived in Hawaii, the Friends of the Library had their sale once a year so it was always much anticipated. In San Diego my neighborhood library has a Friends sale going on five days a week. I find many, many treasures!

Thanks for visiting with me at my blog. If your kitties would like to be a part of the Gato's Book Fiends Gallery let me know!

I really liked Memoirs of a Geisha, but that's the only one you got that I've read. Looks like a good couple of weeks of reading ahead for you! I have two days of school left, and then I plan on being a reading fool!

I loved Memoirs of a Geisha. Excellent read. Looks like you've picked out some great books Kathy. I don't know when our local libraries have their book sales but I'll definitely keep an eye out for it this year. They usually have the bag sale too. I haven't been before because its either been between paydays or we were out of town that weekend. I hope its doable this year.

I LOVE library book sales. Sometimes I have lists with me, but they are author's backlists. I have maybe 10 authors that I'm trying to read all of their books and more than once I went to a sale and brought home a book from an author I love only to discover that I already had it waiting on the shelf!!
