28 of 28...YAY!!

...And the 2010 Olympic Gold Medal for Blogging goes to ....Me!! I blogged every day for the month of February. Okay, maybe I'm not in the same league as Joannie Rochette but this is my blog and I think I deserve the Gold!

Last but certainly not least for my month of posting all things Bon Jon Jovi...here's Tico...what a great name! The countdown has begun... M and I will see them next Monday night! I am beyond excited!!!

Thank you for reading every day of my blog in February. I'd like you to "Have a Nice Day :o) Oh... and I have this "smiley face" as a sticker on the back window of my car!

My handbag of choice today was my studded black bag,. I wore black and gold jewelry today and this bag, although the studs are really brass, looks great with it. It's kind of an attention grabber, too. I always get compliments when I carry it.

Wow! I'm one day away from blogging every day in February. If you've read any or all of my posts, thank you! I really love writing on my blog.

Nothing much going on around here. I worked today and had a blast! One of the girls who works there was a customer. She loves the store so much, she got a job there. That sounds kind of familiar... where have I heard that before? Oh, yeah... me! That's exactly how I started working there. She and I have become good friends and have a lot of fun when we work together. She even carried a Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 today! There was a contest and she must have thought it was The Olympics :o) She was amazing and definitely won the contest!

This is a perfect picture of Dave Bryan. Even though, he's usually behind a mountain of keyboards on the Bon Jovi stage, this picture shows his true love of the piano.

I carried my Dooney & Bourke black backpack. It's considered "vintage" and I bought it off Ebay. It was in perfect condition... much better than I thought it would be.

FIRST LINE FRIDAY...First lines have always intrigued me since I heard an author say that writing the first sentence is, by far, the most difficult part of writing a novel. The reasoning was that a first sentence can make the reader continue reading or cause the book to be tossed aside. So, go to your To Be Read Pile, choose as many books as you want and share the first line. Be sure to include the title and author so that if your reader also finds it intriguing, they can find the book. Also, share your thoughts about the first line. Does it draw you in? Is it...exciting...thought provoking...scary...funny?

"I disagree with you, Mr. President", Sam Brentwood said. "I think you're dead wrong."
Independence
Wagons West Volume I
Dana Fuller Ross

I actually included the second line because, combined with the first line, is a powerful way to begin a novel. I wonder how many people will disagree with a President duruing a conversation.

I chose this book because, after blogging about it yesterday, I decided to read it again. It's been close to, if not more than, twenty years since I first read the series. They'll be quick reads that I know I'll enjoy. I'm not sure I'll read the entire series but who knows...stranger things have happened... lol!

I thought I'd finish out my month of Bon Jovi pictures/videos with pictures of the "other" guys :o) who make Bon Jovi so FANTASTIC!!

Today was a "Triple Crown" handbag day! I carried three different bags. All of them, though, were the same style just different colors. Because I have to wear black to work, I always wear great accessories to make my outfit "pop". So, to work today... I carried my muted fuschia Target hobo bag that matched the jewelry I wore. I met some friends for lunch, and because I changed clothes, I changed bags. I used the black version of the same bag. Later, when I was in "Mom" mode...picking up and dropping kids off, I carried the same bag, but in brown, as I had, once again changed clothes :o)It's not really as crazy as you might think... and I know that's what you're thinking!

Each Thursday, Alyce at http://athomewithbooks.blogspot.com/ features a favorite book from the past. I love this idea and often participate. You can, too! Don't forget to leave a comment on her blog with a link to yours!

I'm not featuring one title today but a series. It's the "Wagon's West" series by Dana Fuller Ross (a pseudonym for Noel B. Gerson). From Fantastic Fiction's website..."The first volume of the author's "Wagons West Series" concerned with pioneers in America in 1837 setting out to win the rich Oregon territory for America. A stirring saga of triumph, tragedy, love and loss. Travelling under authority of President Andrew Jackson the task is to win a race against England and Russia."

This series was so many things... interesting, exciting, fun and even a little educational... just to name a few. Although, not great literature, the series is a favorite read because it was like a favorite TV show. There were conflicts, ongoing characters, romances, heartbreaks... basically life and death while settling the West. I knew, when I read one, that it would end in a way that would wrap up that book but leave me eager for the next. The author wrote four series based on these characters and I'm pretty sure I read them all. At the time they were published, I worked at B. Dalton Bookseller. I would read the publisher's microfiche (Goodness...remember that?!?) so I'd know when the next one would be published.

I've kind of been in a reading slump lately... not really reading anything that's keeping me up at night. I think I'll read a couple of these and see if they're still a favorite read.

I just find this picture very sexy. Even though his eyes are partially hidden, I think his lips are what draws my attention...hmmmm, is that bad? I don't think so :o)

My red bag that my friend, D, gave me for my birthday was what I used today. I love big bags, obviously, and this can hold everything I normally carry... especially my book!

Again, I find myself with nothing really to blog about. There's a "Waiting on Wednesday" meme that I could do but, really, I can't think of any book I'm waiting on that I haven't already blogged about. So, that's out, I guess. I'll just post pictures of Jon as well as my Bag of the Day and call it good. Well, maybe not good... but adequate :o)

What a freakin' cute picture of Jon and his wife, Dorothea!

I carried my Vera Wang black satchel today. I had lunch with a great friend. Then, I got lost. Not that I need a GPS, I just need to Mapquest if I go somewhere I've never been. Funny thing... I was going to drop off an application for a middle school that M might go to. I guess I should figure where I might send my child, huh?!?

This is an excerpt of a 60 Minutes interview with Jon Bon Jovi. My two favorite parts are when he talks about The Philadelphia Soul (I LOVE football and, actually, miss Arena Football)and when Jon, Dave and Richie discuss their bond.

Funny coincidence... at the end of that interview, Jon talks about "Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda". As I'm blogging, I'm flipping channels, mostly between Friends and Sex and the City. As I'm watching SATC, Carrie and Samantha are walking down the street having the following conversation...
Carrie: But then I wouldn't have known you. Can you imagine it?
Samantha: No, I can't.
Carrie: I should have told Aidan.
Samantha: Coulda, woulda, shoulda!
Carrie (in voiceover, later, at her apartment, writing her column): So many roads, so many detours.
So many choices, so many mistakes.
As we drive along the road called life, occasionally a gal will be a little lost.
When that happens, she has to let go of the "coulda, shoulda, woulda"
and just keep going.
As we speed along to the destination called "Who We Hope To Be",
I can't help but whine: are we there yet?
I love concidences like that! In that same episode, Samantha tries to get a Hermes Birkin bag...
Hermes Sales Associate: It's $4,000.
Samantha: I know.
Hermes Sales Associate: And there's a waiting list. Five years.
Samantha: For a bag?
Hermes Sales Associate: It's not a bag. It's a Birkin.
A lot of handbag connoisseurs feel that the Birkin is the ultimate handbag. While I do think they are beautiful bags (that's a Birkin in my Dorothy Kilgallen quote at the top of my blog) and would love to carry one, I'm not obsessive about them like some women are... not that it's a bad thing :o)

My bag today was a vintage Dooney & Bourke British Tan Bucket Bag. It's not in the greatest shape but I found it at a thrift store and paid only $10 for it. I've said it before but Dooney & Bourke AWL is amazing! This bag is at least twenty years old and looks pretty good... better than some of the other leather handbags I've owned.

This weekly monday meme is hosted by Molly at The Bumbles http://thebumblesblog.blogspot.com This week's movie topic is all about Popular Movies You Hated...

Ever get excited to see some movie the whole world has been gushing about, only to discover that you thought it was a dud? Not only are you completely annoyed that the movie didn't meet your expectations, but you don't have anyone else to complain to because you're the only one who didn't like it. Lonely days. Well, here are a few that Molly just didn't get that lots of others loved. Share on your blog movies you didn't see what all the fuss was about and link back to The Bumbles. And don't forget to visit your fellow participants!

1. Pirates of the Carribbean... We never saw this in the theater. We did rent it on DVD. I fell asleep during it, woke up to watch about 20 minutes more and then went to bed. Even my husband admitted later that he fell asleep after I went to bed.

2. Quentin Tarentino... I saw Pulp Fiction and A. didn't "get" it B. was shocked at the violence and C. didn't like any of the characters. Because of that, I have not seen any of his other movies. I know he's "cool" and it's very "cool" to like his movies so I'll take my "uncool" self and watch movies that don't make me queasy.

3. Avatar... Ok, I'll admit it, I don't hate this movie because I haven't seen nor will I. I have less than zero desire to see this. I know, I know... "the best movie ever" well, according to my son who's seen it three times.

I'm sure there are more but, honestly, since I can't think of any so I must have blocked them out of my memory...lol

I've always thought that a guy in a turtleneck sweater is pretty sexy. Guess this picture just proves my point :o)

I carried my blue suede hobo bag today. It looks so good with jeans and the tall blue suede boots I bought a few years ago.

Well, this was pretty much the scene around our house this weekend! J was accepted to "Plan A" high school!!!

I checked the mail on Friday afternoon expecting a letter. There wasn't a letter and I was really disappointed but there was a gold tube. I actually thought it was something for me as I get stuff like that in the mail a lot. I looked at the address label and it my son's name on it. I knew, at that moment, it was good news! On the back was a sticker that read "Congratulations!! You're now a "Plan A mascot"... Class of 2014". I didn't open it, though, as I wanted J to open it. Our mailbox is at the end of our driveway and I honestly think I did a Happy Dance there. My neighbors, if they happened to see, probably thought I was nuts!! I called my husband, told him the great news and we decided not to tell our son until he was home from work. It almost killed me not to tell him on the drive home. I had to keep the conversation to the mundane, everyday topics that we talk about normally.

When we were all together, we showed J the gold tube. I've said that it was like Christmas Eve, waiting for his acceptance. Well, the gold tube was the present under the tree :o) J read the sticker, high-five'd us and opened the tube. There was confetti in it...lol... along with all the official paperwork. Also, included was a certificate proclaiming J as an official member of Plan A High School Class of 2014. What a great touch! This school really promotes a sense of community. We are so proud of him and know he will continue to accomplish so much in high school!

Does it get better than this... a happily married couple walking hand-in-hand... the wife carrying a Louis Vuitton denim handbag... her gorgeous rock star husband carrying Louis Vuitton shopping bag... looks like a good day to me :o)

My zebra bag was my choice today. It didn't see much action, though. I only carried it to work. J and J went snowboarding/skiing at Winter Park today. So, when they returned home, we just had a relaxing day getting ready for the week. we did watch The Amazing Race. Our favorite team came in first... another reason for the Happy Dance!

I'm really tired tonight but I want to blog about something to keep my "streak" intact. I'm going to take a hot bubble bath and watch an episode of The Big Bag Theory. If you haven't watched this show... you MUST! It's Nerdvana :o) We have Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD. I'm not sure which episode I'll watch but here's one of my favorite scenes ever!!!

And because I also want to post a Bon Jovi picture everyday...

"Francesca Cahill prided herself on her common sense, her steady, nonsensical character and her intellect."
Deadly Caress
Brenda Joyce

This is a very straight-forward first line. Because this is the fifth book in the series, I know that even though Francesca is as described, those qualities both help and hinder her in this book.

I forgot how fun this series is. Thanks to Stacy at http://stacybuckeye.wordpress.com/ for reminding me and encouraging me to pick them up again. I've decided that they are my "in between" books. I'm reading them between book club books.

Thaks to Missy at http://missysbooknook.blogspot.com/. She thought my blog was worthy of this award. Thanks, Missy!! A Prolific Blogger is one who is intellectually productive… keeping up an active blog that is filled with enjoyable content.

This is the seating chart for The Pepsi Center where Jon and the Boys will be playing. M and I have very good seats! We're right there... see us?!? Guess not...we'll be sure to wave :o)

I hadn't carried my purple Vera Wang hobo bag today. I also wore a purple scarf and gloves. I was very lucky to find a scarf that was a perfect match. I'm not always matchy-matchy like that but the scarf rocks with the bag!

Jo-Jo at jo-jolovestoread.blogspot.com hosts Book Club Chatter every week. Her question this week..."Do you have a way of keeping members informed of any changes or up to date with a schedule of events between meetings?"

One of my groups has only three members so we email or text back and forth if there any are changes. The mystery group I belong to doesn't really ever have any schedule changes as it's on a set date (first Tuesday of the month) and at a set place (B&N store). There is an email and phone list that the "leader" has so she can contact us if something changes. One of the women has set up a website for our group (for reviews, suggestions etc.). She also has our email addresses so we can be contacted by her, too.

This is the T-shirt I bought for M. She'll wear it to the concert. She had another one with the "Have A Nice Day" logo on it but, as children will do, she grew out of it. It's now on one of her Build-A-Bears :o)

This is the handbag I used today. My favorite thing about it is all the hardware.

My WoW this week is not a book. It's a letter, actually. It's an acceptance letter to the High School J really, really wants to attend. Needless to say, we really, really want him to attend it, too! He took the placement test, he shadowed on day, we filled out all the application paperwork (including three teacher recommendations)and, of course... he aced the interview. So, now we've just been waiting for the letter. It's being mailed tomorrow. I keep thinking that the path of the next four years of his life has already been decided... it's just sitting in an envelope on the Admissions Director's desk. I feel like it's Christmas Eve. We have a great "Plan B" high school and J would have absolutely no problem attending it. We wouldn't either... it's really a great high school with highly rated Advanced Placement Math & Science classes as well as electives and clubs that are affliated with nationally renowned aerospace corporations. It's just, I think, I'd be disappointed if the "Plan A" high school didn't want him. My mother-in-law told me, basically, not to worry that J was one of the best and he'd get in. While it's true that's he is one of the best (his Mom says...lol), this high school really attracts the best of the best so the field is pretty even. Our fingers, toes and eyes are crossed :o) and we've said our prayers. Now, we wait... and wait. If I'm like this for high school, can you imagine what I'll be like when he's applying for college?

Right now, my family is watching The Olympics waiting for the snowboarding competition. J is a huge "shredder" and if he can't be "shreddin'" the slopes, he wants to watch it. We're totally rooting for the Americans to take Gold! Have to say, though, I'm really sick of the Lindsays (Vonn and Jacobellis)...get over yourselves. Yeah, that's pretty snarky but, hey...it's my blog.

I love that Bon Jovi gave their fans video cameras and used that footage for this video. I really shouldn't admit this but... some of the outfits the girls are wearing look very, very familiar... yeah, that's right....I wore outfits just like that!

I carried my large black Coach Carly today. I met a friend for coffee and she was also carrying a large black Coach bag...not the Carly but the Julianne. Not only do we both love Coach, we're both waiting on the same acceptance letter. Her daughter, whose name is the same (same spelling, too)as my daughter, is also trying to get into the "Plan A" high school. We're hoping she does, too...we want to carpool!
