April is NetGalley Month...YAY!

Emily at Red House Books has declared... "April to be - NETGALLEY MONTH! With prizes ;)
I've been talking about this on Twitter for the last couple of days so it's time for the 'official' post ;)
For those that don't know, NetGalley is a way for publishers to share their digital galleys securely to readers. Bloggers, librarians, booksellers -- TONS of people use NetGalley and I for won think it's brilliant!
I've been a member for a while now and because they are so very brilliant, I seem to have amassed a very large number of galleys that NEED TO BE READ!
Well, not need but certainly want! Why else would I have requested them?
So, with Nook in hand, I have declared April to be
NETGALLEY MONTH!!
During the entire month of April I plan to read as many NetGalley books as I can.
Depending on publisher requests, and release dates, not all reviews will be posted in April but I'll be reading them!"
Check out her blog... http://redhousebooks.blogspot.com/2011/03/in-which-i-declare-april-to-be.html... to join and find out about prizes. Don't have an ereader? You can still join! Just read the galleys on your computer, mobile device or email the publisher and request a bound galley copy.

I think this is a great idea! Like other bloggers, I adore NetGalley! And, like other bloggers, I have a few "egalleys" to read and review. We've also requested a few YA titles that M, my 12 year old daughter, wants to read. I allowed her to download them with the caveat that she must write reviews, as well. I will post her reviews here, too.

So, I'm joining in and am looking forward to some great reads!

Meet Me on Monday... But it's Sunday!

From Java's blog... Welcome to the 40th edition of "Meet Me On Monday!"
Blogging is a funny thing...we tell our most intimate thoughts for all to read and yet most of the time I find myself sitting and wondering, "who is this person!?" I know them...but yet I don't know them! I want to know who the person is behind all those words so I thought of a great way for all of us to "meet" each other!
Every Sunday Never Growing Old will post five get to know you questions that you can copy and paste into your own Monday post and we can all learn a little more about each and every one of us!!

Questions:

1. Crunchy or soft tacos?
2. Do you scrapbook?
3. Do you take any daily medications?
4. What is your favorite sound?
5. Where were you born?

My answers...

1. Without a doubt...CRISPY! Crispy chicken tacos, to be exact! With a guacamole tostada a la carte... no rice, no beans! This is my default order whenever we have Mexican. Here is the menu page from our very favorite Mexican restaurant. Janeth is our favorite waitress! The Nachos Supreme Carnitas in the picture is my son's default order :D

2. That short answer is that no, I don't scrapbook. The other short answer is that I am, seriously, the least "crafty" person I know!

3. Thankfully, I do not take any daily medications. I do try to remember to take a multi-vitamin every day, though.

4. Besides silence (really, I love it when it's quiet), I would say any Bon Jovi song. Right now, I'm loving (again!) this one...

5. I was born in Topeka, Kansas.

Book Blogger Hop!

Book Blogger HopFrom Jennifer's blog... "In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read! So, grab the logo, post about the Hop on your blog, and start HOPPING through the list of blogs that are posted in the Linky list below!!
The Hop lasts Friday-Monday every week, so if you don't have time to Hop today, come back later and join the fun! This is a weekly event! And stop back throughout the weekend to see all the new blogs that are added! We get over 200 links every week!!

RULES:
Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.
1. Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below, including the genre that you review!
In your link, please state the main genre that you review: eclectic, contemp. fiction, ya, paranormal, mystery, non-fiction, etc.
Example: Crazy-for-Books (contemp. adult fiction)
2. Post about the Hop on your blog. Spread the word about the book party! The more the merrier! In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!).

This week's question comes from Mina who blogs at Mina Burrows:

"If you could physically put yourself into a book or series…which one would it be and why?"

I read this question this morning and have kind of been thinking about it all day. I had it narrowed to three. My first was The Gaslight Mysteries by Victoria Thompson. They are set at the turn of the 20th century. This sounds really lame and pretty pathetic but the reason I didn't choose them is because of the lack of sanitation. I told you it was lame but it kind of grosses me out to think (or read) about it. Even for the "upper" class, it was still pretty primitive. So, I'll pass on that.

My second thought was the Maisie Dobb series but, after reading how Britain was after The Great War... an entire generation of young men almost wiped out, the unemployment they faced upon their return, their devastating injuries(both physical and mental)and the overall sadness that enveloped the country... I knew this was not the answer.

So, this leaves my third and final choice... the Thomas Lynley series by Elizabeth George. They are set in Great Britain (yay!), in present time (yay!) and Thomas is a very handsome Earl who drives around in a Bentley (again...yay!). Yes, my choice has been determined by my (apparently) very shallow nature. Although, I would put that aside to help Thomas and Barbara solve crime. Then, we'd hit a pub, have a pint and have a long talk about what happened that changed the course of the series. If you've read the series and know what happened, I'm sure you would want to join us for that discussion, wouldn't you?

This is a picture of Thomas played by Nathaniel Parker for the PBS/BBC series. Although he is handsome and is great in the role, he looks nothing like the dashing blond who is described in the books.

Thanks for "hopping" by. Please leave a comment so I can "hop" to your blog.

As a matter of fact, I rocked out to Jon and the boys this morning after dropping the carpool kids at school. Nothing like "Living' on a Prayer" to get my day off to a great start! Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created here at The Broke and the Bookish. This feature was created because we are particularly fond of lists here at The Broke and the Bookish. We'd love to share our lists with other bookish folks and would LOVE to see your top ten lists!
Each week we will post a new Top Ten list that one of our bloggers here at The Broke and the Bookish will answer. Everyone is welcome to join. All we ask is that you link back to The Broke and the Bookish on your own Top Ten Tuesday post AND add your name to the Linky widget so that everyone can check out other bloggers lists! If you don't have a blog, just post your answers as a comment. Have fun with it! It's a fun way to get to know your fellow bloggers.
This week the LOVELY Ginger from GReads is doing a guest post Top Ten Tuesday about her top ten bookish pet peeves because we ran into a jam here on the blog this week with Top Ten Tuesday and Ginger volunteered to step up so I could have this for you all in a timely manner :)

This is a fantastic topic. I just hope I can think think of ten.

Here are my Top Ten... in no particular order.

1. Cliff hanger chapter endings... don't authors know I want to read until the end of the chapter then go to sleep? Why must they insist on ending a chapter like this... "Bob couldn't believe what he saw! How was this even possible?" Ugh! Then I have to read into the next chapter. Why can't the author write... "Bob couldn't believe what he saw! But, he was tired and would think about tomorrow, after a good night's sleep." Is that so difficult... lol!?! Wouldn't Bob think more clearly in the morning? I know I will :D

2. On that same note... if I'm foregoing sleep (LOL) to read the next chapter, stay with Bob! Don't start the next chapter telling me about Sally. If I must read about Sally, bring her in after I find what the #&!! Bob saw.

3. Not being able to see what you're reading. Yes, I'm nosey. I want to see what you're reading. Don't worry, though... I won't ask what the title is. Nor, will I ask, if it's something I've read, your thoughts about it. It's your time to read and I respect that. I'll silently praise your choice and wonder if you picture Walt Longmire, Maisie Dobbs or Thomas Lynley the same way I do.

3. Book Cover "trends"... okay, I'll admit right now that I'm going to contradict myself. I love book covers... mostly on historical fiction... that show women wearing beautiful gowns. I am drawn to them and have probably purchased more than my share just because of these gorgeous covers. But, really, publishers... can you not put something else on the cover? Along that same line, what's with headless women on covers? I'm not talking about horror novels, either. And, sometimes, just to really put me in a tizzy...lol... the headless woman on the cover is wearing a beautiful gown. ACK!! Another book cover trend is the beautiful painting of a large, usually Victorian, house on a hill or cliff. Again, here's the contradiction... I love them, am drawn to them but, there are just so many of them.

4. Backlist Re-issues... I get the marketing aspect and it's about making money. I know that. But, it's so frustrating to see what you think is a new title by a favorite (or even new-to-me) author only to realize that they just slapped a new cover on a book that I read years ago.

5. Idiot's/ Dummy's Guides... I know these titles are (probably) meant tongue-in-cheek but I find them a little condescending. I'm not a dummy or an idiot. I just need a little help. Change the title and I might buy your guide.

6. Over Description... I quit reading an author because, although her basic plot lines were interesting, she went on and on about decor. Every time, a character walked into the room, she described in excruciatingly minute detail. I get it... we're in the formal dining room of an English country estate. Like most, if not all readers, I know what that looks like. Describe it enough so that I get a great mental image then MOVE on!!! The "straw" with said author was a scene in which the female protagonist learns about the deaths of her two most-beloved brothers in a plane crash. And, that was about the extent of that. However, the author wrote an entire paragraph about the lamp, she turned on to read the letter informing her of the deaths. I would have preferred to know more about her feelings of losing her brothers. But, no... I knew more about the stupid lamp.

7. B&N & Starbucks gift cards... how is it that B&N cafes that "proudly" serve Starbucks coffee don't accept Starbucks giftcards? Really?

8. Book "abuse"... okay, so I didn't buy your book but must you break the spine or turn down the page corner? Use a bookmark or even a piece of paper! And please don't have a dust jacket on the hardback. It'll just get ruined. Take it off, put it on your shelf, enjoy the book then put the dust jacket back on the book. Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!

9. Please don't come into our home and give me grief about the amount of books we have. We are readers. We have raised J&M to be readers. Believe me, we don't have near as many as some people! I recently found out that a friend donated 750 (you read that right!!)hardback books to various organizations. Wow, that's an amazing amount. I've been to her house and I would have never guessed she had that many. Her home is immaculate! We enjoy using books as decor. They are all in bookshelves... beautiful bookshelves that are part of our decor. They are not scattered willy-nilly in piles all over our home. We are not hoarders... our home is clean, neat and perfectly presentable. And yes, I have read most of them!

10. I carry big purses. I love them for many reasons but at the top of the list is they are large enough to carry my ever-present book. So, please keep your comments about their size to yourself. And please don't ask if I always carry a book. The answer is... yes, I carry a book in my bag pretty much all the time. Of course, there are exceptions but, generally I have a book (or now, my ereader) in my bag. You just never know when there will be a few minutes to read. Just today, I waited in a very long line at Panera. I know what I want ("You Pick Two"... broccoli cheddar soup and Greek salad, thank you)and don't need to look at the menu board. What better way to pass the few minutes than to start reading. That's why I love carrying big purses.

What are your bookish pet peeves? Remember to link your post at The Broke and the Bookish.

Meet Me on Sunday... I Mean Monday!

Java at http://nevergrowingold.blogspot.com/ has some of the best Blog Hops. Here's an early edition of Meet Me on Monday!

From her blog... Welcome to the 39th edition of
"Meet Me On Monday!"
"Its a great way to to meet new friends and for others to get to know me better....one Monday at a time!!!"....as quoted by the Chacogirl!! I will make this SIMPLE and FUN!!!
Questions:
1. What jewelry do you wear 24/7?
2. Do you twirl your spaghetti or cut it?
3. How many siblings do you have?
4. Were you named after anyone?
5. Coke or Pepsi?

My Answers

1.I don't wear any jewelry 24/7 as I take it all off when I'm home for the day, That said, though... I wear my engagement ring and wedding ring everyday. I also wear an anniversary band and a whale tail pinky ring. I wear a very unique cross necklace as well as earrings. I have three holes in my left ear and one in my right. I coordinated my "main" earrings with what I'm wearing and wear very small studs in the other hole.

2. I cut my spaghetti as I'm definitely not coordinated enough to twirl it. Although, we taught J & M to twirl their spaghetti from an early age.

3. I have one sister. K is almost seven years younger than me. She is a probation officer. She loves to travel and is thinking about going on a safari for her 40th birthday later this year. How cool is that!

4. My full name is Kathleen Anne (with a very Irish maiden name). I was kind of named after my Mom and maternal grandmother. My Mom's middle name is Anna-Katherin and my grandmother's name was Anna Katherin. Yes, very German! So, my parents "Americanized" and "Irishized" (yes, I made that up...but, it fits, right?) and that's my name!

5. Pepsi, baby!!! Caffeine Free Pepsi is what we always have in the house but I will drink regular Pepsi if I'm out (Coke, too... but that's our little secret. okay?!?)

Thanks for hopping by. Please leave a comment so I can head to your blog and Meet You on Monday... or Sunday...lol!

Bags In My Bag

I haven't blogged about my bags in a while and since it's a quiet Saturday night(and our 23rd wedding anniversary), I thought I'd talk about some new bags I have in my purse. Since I change my bags everyday, and like today... twice!... I have to be very organized. Everything must be in some kind of cute bag! I decided I needed a new sunglass case or bag. My old one was falling apart. I found a really cute leather Steve Madden wristlet in a leopard print pattern. I adore leopard print! I have leopard print blouses, scarves, purses and even gloves. Of course, I follow the "one piece at a time" rule with those. In my handbags, though... it's a different story! The more leopard print accessories, the better! Who cares if they clash, no one really sees them except me and it makes me very happy to see the kaleidoscope of bags in my bag!

I also have this make-up bag from Bath & Body works. I cut the handles off and use it as the catch-all bag for all the random items in my purse. I have my mints, my Nectarine Mint Pocket Bac, a bookmark (not quite why I have that in the bag) and a B&BW reusable shopping tote in this colorful bag.
Having a place for everything and everything in its place in my purse makes for very easy and very quick purse changes. Like I said before, I carried two bags today. It's not really that unusual for me to do that. I coordinate my handbags to my outfits and if I change outfits during the day, I change purses. I had a store meeting this morning and I carried my black motorcycle bag. I just love the tassels! Later, when I went back to work and changed into dress code clothes, I carried my Vera Wang black satchel. It just went better with what I wore to work.

It's apparently a laptop bag, but, because I love big bags, I carry it as a handbag.

My bag has to hold my wallet (which I also change frequently), keys, phone, make up bag (which, right now, also hold my Dooney & Bourke Grape Signature wristlet... yet another bag!), the two new bags as well as a book (sometimes a paperback, sometimes a hardback and, now sometimes, even my ereader :D yay, technology) and, yes, I'm still "old school"... my day planner. It sounds kind of complicated but, really, it isn't. It just makes me happy to carry a different bag every day.

So, have fun HOPPING and enjoy your BOOK PARTY weekend!!!

This week's question comes from Somer who blogs at A Bird's Eye Review (her blog design is ADORABLE - check it out!):

"Do you read only one book at a time, or do you have several going at once?"

My answer... I have several books going at once! I have the one I'm currently reading (right now, it's a mystery that I'm reading to review here), the audio book in my car's CD player (a romance that, honestly, is just so-so), the soon-to-be reviewed novel that is on my ereader as well as the "emergency" book I keep in my car just in case I'm somewhere and have... EGADS!!... forgotten my book. Said book is always one that is not so engrossing as to make it into the house.

Thanks for stopping by Bags, Books & Bon Jovi. Please leave a comment so I return the favor and visit your blog, too.

A Trail of Ink: The Third Chronicle of Hugh de Singleton, Surgeon by Mel Starr

From LitFuse... sponsor of this tour...
An excellent medieval whodunit by the author of The Unquiet Bones and A Corpse at St Andrew's Chapel

Some valuable books have been stolen from Master John Wyclif, the well known scholar and Bible translator. He calls upon his friend and former pupil, Hugh de Singleton, to investigate. Hugh's investigation leads him to Oxford where he again encounters Kate, the only woman who has tempted him to leave bachelor life behind, but Kate has another serious suitor. As Hugh's pursuit of Kate becomes more successful, mysterious accidents begin to occur. Are these accidents tied to the missing books, or to his pursuit of Kate?

One of the stolen books turns up alongside the drowned body of a poor Oxford scholar. Another accident? Hugh certainly doesn't think so, but it will take all of his surgeon s skills to prove.

So begins another delightful and intriguing tale from the life of Hugh de Singleton, surgeon in the medieval village of Bampton. Masterfully researched by medieval scholar Mel Starr, the setting of the novel can be visited and recognized in modern-day England. Enjoy more of Hugh's dry wit, romantic interests, evolving faith, and dogged determination as he pursues his third case as bailiff of Bampton.
http://www.amazon.com/Trail-Ink-Chronicle-Singleton-Surgeon/dp/1854249746/ref=sprightly-20

About the author, Mel Starr...
Mel Starr was born and grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After graduating with a MA in history from Western Michigan University in 1970, he taught history in Michigan public schools for thirty-nine years, thirty-five of those in Portage, MI, where he retired in 2003 as chairman of the social studies department of Portage Northern High School. Mel and his wife, Susan, have two daughters and seven grandchildren. www.melstarr.org

As those of you who have read Bags, Books & Bon Jovi for a while probably know I love... no... LOVE mysteries... followed very closely by historical fiction. So, when I read a historical mystery, I'm pretty much in Heaven!! That said, this mystery definitely did not disappoint! I was taken to another time and place. Mr. Starr is very skilled at creating a realistic medieval world. This was not one of those genre mysteries, that for a few time and place references, could have been set at any time or any place. It was written by an author who cared to create, not only a believable world, but a mystery that kept me challenged and interested even as I turned the last page. A Trail of Ink was written with dialogue that was time appropriate (at least as far I am concerned) but not so much so that it was the focus of my reading. The focus was Hugh de Singleton. He is a great addition to my world of great fictional detectives. He is engaging and I enjoyed following him as he "solved the mystery". His world is populated with characters, sites and events that I can't wait to read more about.

While great characters are all well and good, they won't carry a mystery novel, if the mystery is lacking. Believe me, I know... I've read mysteries like that. The mystery in A Trail of Ink is intriguing and kept me guessing even as Hugh unraveled it.

I usually don't like to read series mysteries out of order. However, due to time constraints and a huge TBR pile (you know how that is, right...lol), The Third Chronicle was my first introduction to this very literate, rich and clever series. I look forward to reading The First Chronicle and seeing how Hugh de Singleton began his detective career.

If you have a suggestion for a future HOP question, click here to fill out the form! Thanks!

This week's question comes from Ellie who blogs at Musings of a Bookshop Girl:

"If I gave you £50 (or $80) and sent you into a bookshop right now, what would be in your basket when you finally staggered to the till?"

Great question!

I would first go to the cafe and get the largest frappucino or blended ice coffee drink they have. I've given them up for Lent but since someone else is buying, it's okay... right...lol!
Then, I wander through the store enjoying said "frapp" and make my way to the mystery and the fiction section. I would check out what's new in those sections, taking notes for later. After that, and, of course, still sipping on my drink, I'd head up to the front and pick up a Nook Color. I'd "finally stagger to the till" (LOVE the turn of that phrase!!) and use Ellie's money and a gift card I received for my birthday to pay for it :D
Oh yeah... remember those notes I took earlier... I would then go back to the cafe, get yet another frappucino (lol... yeah, like I need that much caffeine, not to mention the billions of calories...lol) and download those titles to my new Nook Color! Doesn't get much better for a book lover, now does it?!?

Thanks for hopping by. Come back later as I will be posting my Friday meme... First Line Friday and please leave a comment so I can hop to your blog!

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

Claire Randall is leading a double life. She has a husband in one century, and a lover in another...
In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she innocently touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an "outlander"—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of our Lord...1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire's destiny in soon inextricably intertwined with Clan MacKenzie and the forbidden Castle Leoch. She is catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life ...and shatter her heart. For here, James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a passion so fierce and a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Diana Gabaldon is the author of the award-winning, #1 NYT-bestselling OUTLANDER novels, described by Salon magazine as “the smartest historical sci-fi adventure-romance story ever written by a science Ph.D. with a background in scripting “Scrooge McDuck” comics.”
The adventure began in 1991 with the classic OUTLANDER (“historical fiction with a Moebius twist”), has continued through six more New York Times-bestselling novels–DRAGONFLY IN AMBER, VOYAGER, DRUMS OF AUTUMN, THE FIERY CROSS, A BREATH OF SNOW AND ASHES, and AN ECHO IN THE BONE, with nineteen million copies in print worldwide
The series is published in 26 countries and 23 languages, and includes a nonfiction (well, relatively) companion volume, THE OUTLANDISH COMPANION, which provides details on the settings, background, characters, research, and writing of the novels. Gabaldon (it’s pronounced “GAA-bull-dohn”—rhymes with “stone”) has also written several books in a sub-series featuring Lord John Grey (a major minor character from the main series): LORD JOHN AND THE PRIVATE MATTER, LORD JOHN AND THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BLADE, and LORD JOHN AND THE HAND OF DEVILS. Another Lord John book, LORD JOHN AND THE SCOTTISH PRISONER, will probably be published in 2011).
Returning to her comic-book roots, she has also written a graphic novel titled THE EXILE (set within the OUTLANDER universe and featuring the main characters from OUTLANDER), but told from the viewpoint of Jamie Fraser and his godfather, Murtagh. The graphic novel is illustrated by Hoang Nguyen, published by Del-Rey.
Gabaldon is presently working on the third Lord John novel (LORD JOHN AND THE SCOTTISH PRISONER), and the eighth book in the OUTLANDER series. In addition, she is working on a contemporary mystery series, set in Phoenix, and has written Highly Scholarly Introductions (with masses of footnotes) to recent Modern Library editions of Sir Walter Scott’s IVANHOE and Thomas Paine’s COMMON SENSE.
Dr. Gabaldon holds three degrees in science: Zoology, Marine Biology, and Quantitative Behavioral Ecology, (plus an honorary degree as Doctor of Humane Letters, which entitles her to be “Diana Gabaldon, Ph.D., D.H.L.” She supposes this is better than “Diana Gabaldon, Phd.X,”) and spent a dozen years as a university professor with an expertise in scientific computation before beginning to write fiction. She has written scientific articles and textbooks, worked as a contributing editor on the MacMillan ENCYCLOPEDIA OF COMPUTERS, founded the scientific-computation journal SCIENCE SOFTWARE QUARTERLY, and has written numerous comic-book scripts for Walt Disney. None of this has anything whatever to do with her novels, but there it is.
She and her husband, Douglas Watkins, have three adult children and live mostly in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Okay... raise your hand if you haven't read Outlander. I know there are readers out there who haven't (yet)and I hope, if that's you, you'll run right out and pick up a copy!

Why must you do that?!? Because Outlander is SO good! It was my first "foray" in to time travel romances. And, with very few exceptions, it's the only series that I will re-read.

The first time I read Outlander was when it was originally published. I was working at B Dalton Bookseller. I had just started reading romances and was a little daunted by its size and time travel theme. Well, all my misgivings were left in the dust as I read. And read, I did! You have to remember this was 1991... it was the 800+ page hardback edition and ereaders were still decades away. Even so, I took the book everywhere so that I could read a few pages here and there. The storyline sucked me in and I finished it so fast.

I could not wait to read more about Claire and Jamie. Especially Jamie... wow! There haven't been too many fictional characters who I've "crushed on" as M would say. But, (again) wow! Jamie has it all! He's the man who men want to be like and who women want to be with! And (once again!)... wow! The scenes where Claire "is with" Jamie... hot, hot, hot! At the time when we were reading Outlander, I worked with a woman whose married name was Frazier. Her husband's name was James! It didn't take us long to realize that she was married to Jamie Frazier!!! Okay, so the spelling was a little different (in Outlander, he is Jamie Fraser) but, yeah... how cool is that?!?

Later, we received an ARC of Dragonfly in Amber, I think. Within the letter from the publisher was Diana Gabaldon's address. So, being the geeky book fan I was (honestly, still am...lol), I wrote her a fan letter! Imagine my surprise when she wrote back! We actually corresponded for a while and she even sent autographed pages of the book she was currently working on! I still have them, too... tucked inside my original Outlander hardback.

Outlander is just the first novel in an amazing series. If you have yet to read it, you will be treated to an epic story that has all the classic elements. It's a time travel story. It's a story of rebellion and war. It's an adventure story. It's a story of good vs. evil. But, most importantly, it's a love story. Not just between Claire and Jamie but a love story of family, clans and fighting for what's right and just.

Like I said, if you haven't read it...READ IT SOON! And, if you have read it... READ IT AGAIN! I know you'll love rediscovering all that is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon!!

Oh yeah...you can put your hands down now :D!

~~Thanks to Cheryl at Pump Up Your Book, Delacorte/Random House and Diana Gabaldon for providing a copy of Outlander in exchange for an honest and thoughtful review~~

This week's question... Who is your favorite book villain?"

~~My answer..
My very first thought for this question was a woman who really intrigued me... okay, honestly, she scared me a little. She lurked, she threatened, encouraged suicide, committed arson and was just downright cruel. She never let anyone forget who, in her mind, was really the "Lady of the Manor". Have you guessed to whom I am referring? It's Mrs. Danvers!
The housekeeper of Manderley who had a very unusual attachment to the first Mrs. deWinter in Daphne DuMaurier's amazing novel, Rebecca. What a well-written villain! Without Mrs. Danvers, Rebecca would never have been so "gothic". Because it is a first person narrative from an unnamed character, I completely identified with the second Mrs. deWinter. Her fear and trepidation about Mrs. Danvers made her villainy so palpable. She is, most definitely, one of literature's most enduring villains.

Thanks for hopping by. Come back later as I will be posting my Friday meme... First Line Friday and please leave a comment so I can hop to your blog!
