Chinese Food, Student Council & Bowling

Today is an odd day for the kids...although they would probably tell you they love it :o)

M has a late start and didn't have to be at school until 11am. J has an early dismissal at 1:30pm.

After J gets home, My Mom and I will take him to Panda Express for a late lunch. M has Student Council after school. She is so proud to be the fifth grade representative. They are both in a bowling league after school but M will skip that today because of Student Council.

We are not one of those families that has oodles of activities but it seems that every activity that J&M do, is on Thursdays. Even M's Girl Scout meetings are every other Thursday night. Add to that...our family favorite TV show, Survivor, is on Thursdays :o)

My bag today is a Dooney & Bourke tote that I bought on QVC years ago. It was chosen for me today by my "Fashion Girl"...M. When I need some fashion advice, I'll ask her. Sometimes, it's what earrings look best but, usually it's which bag should I carry that day. Yes, I'm training her well!

I thought I'd also post a picture of what I carry every day in my various bags. The first question I seem to get when someone finds out that I change my handbag every day, is how do I do that. It's actually very organized so switching bags is very simple. Also, I'm nosy and always think about what other women carry in their bags! Here's a list...my wallet, my LG ENV2 cell phone with a pink cover (LOVE this phone), day planner (with pictures of handbags and shoes, naturally! My friend, Lori has the same one. I think about her sometimes when I'm using mine),keys, Dooney & Bourke Wrislet in Grape (it holds my chapsticks and lip glosses), makeup case (with Impressionist painitings...my favorite), gum and favorite mints as well as a cute cheetah print sunglass case and sunglasses. My wallet and day planner are switched out often but definitely not every day.

Mah Jong and Girl Scout Cookies

I "played" Mah Jong today with two friends. Although, we usually play at least one game, it, more often than not, turns into a great time sharing with them over a great lunch at a cute bistro. Today, though, we didn't even play. One of my friends shared some pretty life-changing news. She's holding up much better than I ever would if I was in that position. I have always admired her but seeing her today...my admiration soared! She is a wonderful person and will get through this with her usual humor, sophistication and dignity not to mention her much-loved sarcastic wit!

M is selling Girl Scout Cookies. I will freely admit, up front, that I'm SO not a "rabid" seller. I won't let M sell to people we don't know nor will I allow her to sell at the booth with her other Scout "mates". I understand that the money helps the troop but, honestly, I just rather pay for those activities and such. That said, I received an email from the troop's Cookie Dad. After the first round of orders, our troop has sold something like 3200 boxes...averaging 207 boxes per girl. Great news, huh? Unless you're my daughter. She sold 78 boxes...not really helping the average, is she? Oh well, I'll take all the blame :o)

My bag today is a Dooney & Bourke black leather backpack. I love this bag. It's their great AWL and it's big enough to hold my Mah Jong books. My only complaint...it's a little difficult to get into. The front buckle and drawstring have to be undone each time.

Saturday

It's funny but I'm really having fun with this blog. I've spent way too much time looking at other blogs and browsing blog creator websites. I'll probably end up changing things around on here quite often. I don't do FaceBook or MySpace so I guess I'll have my fun here.

I carried my Dooney & Bourke medallion satchel today. I bought it when we went to Vegas. We went with Sarah and Gary to celebrate her 40th birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary. The bag has multi-colored medallions on it. It reminds me of casino chips. It was a perfect bag for Vegas! Now, I wear it with a lot of different outfits as there are so many colors in it.

M went to a dance workshop today. A new studio opened and they had free workshops. She learned a little bit of ballet, jazz, modern and hip-hop (her favorite). The instructor said her M's moves were more "pom" oriented so I'd like to have her take a pom class to see if she likes it. I think she just likes wearing the dance clothes :o)

Bag, Surprise Book and Jon

Today's bag is an "Army" green suede hobo. While I think it has too many pockets on the front (I tend to like bags without any), the color makes up for that! I know this picture doesn't do it justice. I really need to use the digital camera we received for Christmas as opposed to my cell phone.

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a copy of Firefly Lane in the mail. According to the letter, I filled out an online survey about books and this was a "thank you". I haven't read anything by her, so, it'll go in my TBR pile and I'll try it.

Jon Bon Jovi was on Oprah yesterday discussing the Inauguration. It was nice to see some family pictures that he shared. He is very well-spoken and looked, as usual, great. Loved his pocket square!

Bag & Book of the Day

This is one of my favorites! It's a chocolate brown woven tote bag that has a strand of brown tone beads on one handle. I added a scarf that has brown, tan and orange tones. The bag is really big but I love it! So much so, that I bought it in black, as well :o) I promise the pictures will get better!

I've been reading "American Dreams" by John Jakes. It's a great family saga with lots of characters. It's the sequel to "Homeland" which I have not read. However, this book stands on it's own and I really don't feel like I've missed anything. John Jakes is the master of the family saga and a great author to read when nothing else will hold your interest.

The First of Many...Hopefully!

I'm not quite sure why I'm doing this. Peer pressure, I guess! At my age, that's almost laughable. It seems that all my online friends are blogging so who am I to be left behind?!?

I will try to blog whenever I think there is something that needs to be forever recorded in cyberspace :o)

I also want to use my blog to post pictures of the bags that I carry each day. Those who know me, know that I have a lot of bags and change them daily. Yes, daily! Crazy, I know but I love purses and want to show off my collection! I think my collection is so great! I love them all equally...my Louis Vuittons, Dooney & Bourkes as well as the bags I buy at Target and Kohl's!

I will also blog about books. Again, those who know me, know I love books! I belong to two book clubs and read all the time. Thank goodness for carpools as that's when I do a lot of reading...waiting in my car. I'll not only blog about books I'm reading but just about anything book "related".
